The flash really caught the silver colored ruler, but you can see it is way under an inch in length, there is no way you can push the latch release button already on the gun, with the recoil pad in place. Here is a sort of crappy picture of the ruler against the factory latch button. Second, here is the recoil pad with a ruler stuck in the hole for the latch release button. Is it really supposed to be a cruel joke, make you think you can use a factory recoil pad on an existing gun when it in fact won't work unless the gun is assembled around it? But it seems this won't go on a gun that's already been built using a stock that had the metal buttplate. I can see that if you had the recoil pad already you could place the latch based on it, and then trim the metal buttplate if you still wanted to be able to switch between the two. How is this thing supposed to be added to a gun that already had the latch placed with the metal buttplate? It won't engage. Here's the same buttstock with the metal buttplate, notice the metal tab for the latch is much longer, the latch that is properly placed to engage this buttplate won't engage the recoil pad plate, unless metal were somehow added to the tab. Notice the place where the latch engages is, the metal tab only goes about half way in the space provided on the stock. ![]() ![]() Here is a side view of the recoil pad on a stock. Basically pressing that spot would release the stock latch from the closed position. The circle in the middle corresponds to the button on the back of the stock for releasing it from the closed position. Below is the factory accessory recoil pad for the AK 100 style folding stock.
